On August 28th, 2017, CUSTOM X BODYBOARDS launched the Pat Caldwell new model page on Facebook. The page officially announced the collaboration between bodyboarding pioneer PAT CALDWELL and legendary bodyboard shaper PMA, with the plan of documenting the board-making process from concept to finished product. Pat was quoted on the page as saying, "This board will capture the vintage look while integrating the new technology of today."

In a little more than two weeks time, a prototype has been shaped by PMA and shipped out to Pat for testing in Hawaii. Mock-ups for logos and designs are being worked on, and Custom X has announced that the first 50 boards produced will be individually numbered and will have posters personally autographed by Pat Caldwell himself. Debbie Colwell at Custom X is already accepting email reservations for the first 50 boards.
