Maui and Ron McAdams |
"It's with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my amazing father Ron McAdams. We received unexpected news last night that he had passed away from a heart attack. It deeply saddens me that he was taken from us so early but find comfort that he is in a better place. He was a loving father, brother, son, and friend. He leaves behind his parents Richard McAdams and Helen Stone, his brother Rod Mcadams and sister Sandy Gaian, as well as many other family and friends. He always found peace in the ocean. as such, a paddle out memorial service is being planned."
As news of Ron's passing spread through the bodyboarding world, many people took to Ron's Facebook page to post photos, share stories, and leave messages of condolences.
Maui McAdams followed up with this message:
"Thanks to everyone for their kind words and heartfelt stories. It's amazing to see how many lives he's touched. We are still trying to get everything organized. At this time, it sounds like we are hopefully going to have the paddle out service in several weeks or so in Oahu. I will let you know when we get the details sorted out. I am hoping to fly back to San Diego with some of my father's ashes and hold a paddle out service in San Diego as well."
